Yvonne Mason's Biography
Born in Evanston, IL, and raised in Zion, IL, Yvonne is an alumna of Illinois State University, holding a B.A. in Elementary Education. Furthering her academic pursuits, she earned an M.A. in Administration and Supervision from National Louis University and a second M.A. in Language Arts from St. Xavier University.
Yvonne has been an inspirational and dedicated educator teaching K-6th grade students. She has also served as an assistant principal in the Zion School district #6 and retired after 35 years of service.
In 2019, Yvonne accepted a position as a K-8 STEM teacher for S.T.U.D.Y.S. Ministry Christian Academy in Lindenhurst, IL, for 1 1⁄2 years . Her contributions to education were recognized with the 2020 Most Influential African American Educator of Lake County.
Yvonne's commitment to fostering positive development extended beyond the classroom. She created the Charm Club after-school program at Elmwood Elementary School in Zion, IL, serving 3rd-6th grade girls for eight years. It gave girls the opportunity to learn to make healthier choices and carry themselves with confidence, integrity, dignity, and grace. An annual fashion show showcased all 50 girls’ beauty, both inside and out.
In 2023, Yvonne taught the STARS leadership program for K-6th-grade students at Glenwood Elementary School in Waukegan, IL.
As the founding president of Radiant Precious Jewels, LLC, a youth organization for 3rd - 8th-grade girls, Yvonne continues her mission to educate, equip, and empower young girls to develop self-esteem, self-confidence, self-worth, self-love, and self-respect through tailored activities, programs, and events. Every girl discovers her gifts and talents and is encouraged to shine brightly, reflecting her own Radiant Brilliance.
Beyond her educational endeavors, Yvonne shares her creativity in planning, coordinating, and designing various family functions, weddings, church celebrations, fashion shows, and other events. Her creative work is impeccable and consistently reflects a "Spirit of Excellence."
