Radiant Precious Jewels, LLC

Belkis Harmon was born in the Dominican Republic. She grew up in a small town called San Pedro de Macoris. Her passion for cooking blossomed when she was 9 years old. At 11 years old, she became involved with a Catholic church group called San Francisco de Asis. This group was devoted to visiting shut-ins, the sick, and people in general need of help from their community.

Belkis was presented with an opportunity to come to the United States. She learned English and completed her education to become a nursing assistant. This accomplishment led to a growing determination to reach further personal and professional heights. She married and started a family. To date, she has raised  four sons. 

Her work history paints the picture of someone who cares about helping her community. She worked at YMCA as a women's personal trainer. Her work experience also includes work at St. Therese Hospital from 1994-2000 as a counselor and patient diet menu planner. During her time at St. Therese Hospital, she served as a bilingual translator for staff and patients. 

Belkis continued her education and became a certified medical assistant, which led to her working at the Lake County Health Department in Waukegan, IL. She also found another church to volunteer for, the Lutheran Church in Waukegan from 1995-2002. Her volunteering duties included cooking/baking, fundraising, and coordinating/planning carnival events.

Her volunteer experience doesn't end there. From 2007-2014, Belkis volunteered at St. John Church in Waukegan, IL. During this time, she packed food to hand out to those in need, visited shut-ins, and visited the sick in hospitals.

Belkis has used her experience and the knowledge she's acquired to continuously give back to her community. We appreciate having her on our Board!
